Kate Evans SWC Student Communications Manager

Staff Wellbeing Champion

Role

I work in the Communications department, as Student Communications Manager, supporting colleagues to share their information with all our students.

Wellbeing statement

I strongly believe in the importance of our mental health and wellbeing. It’s great that the university recognises the role of wellbeing in a happy and productive team, and I enjoy working with the other wellbeing champions on new ideas and activities.

I was also the co-chair of the staff Carers’ Network for two years, which gave me valuable insights into the challenges other colleagues face.

Interests

I love music, and have played alto sax since childhood; for 20 years I’ve been in a big band based in Bath, and love the sense of community I get from playing in a group.

My two kids are now teenagers - so getting more independent and the support they need is changing. We also have two very fluffy cats, and have been renovating our fixer-upper for three years.
