Father Christopher Whitehead Visiting Chaplain

Father Christopher takes Mass on campus on Wednesdays and is available for all students and staff, supported by the Roman Catholic church.

Role

Father Christopher was appointed as Roman Catholic Visiting Chaplain in March 2025.

Mass returned to campus in March 2015 and Father Christopher leads the weekly sacramental service from 1.30pm - 2.30pm in the Chaplaincy Chapel on campus.

Career

Father Christopher Whitehead was born and brought up in Gloucester and ordained a priest in 1994. He has served in many parishes in the diocese of Clifton and was appointed to St John’s bath in 2019.

He was asked to have a pastoral care of the Catholic students at the university and so has made the city Centre Parish a hub for the Catholic students at the university where they gather for the 6.30pm on a Sunday evening.

Father Christopher enjoys music, art, food and the cinema.
