Unattended Experiments Safety Standard

The University's Safety Standard for running laboratory and workshop experiments (including analytical equipment) unattended for two hours or longer.

Not all experiments or analytical processes will fit into normal working hours. Some may need to run overnight, over a weekend or for even longer. It will not always be practical to have experiments attended at all times. Before any experiment is allowed to run unattended the University requires that certain safety conditions have been met and that researchers have been provided with the necessary permissions to proceed. The Unattended Experiments Safety Standard sets out the process that researchers and others will need to follow to meet University requirements.

This publication (version 2) is scheduled for review by end of December 2024.
