Undergraduate Assessment Regulations
The Undergraduate Assessment Regulations (UGAR) set out rules for assessment including unit outcomes, progression, award eligibility and classification.
The Undergraduate Assessment Regulations (UGAR) applies to ALL undergraduate students from the 2023/24 academic year onwards, including returning/continuing students.
UGAR replaces the New Framework for Assessment: Assessment Regulations: Phase 1 for first-degree programmes (NFAAR-UG). NFAAR-UG regulations will still apply to any outstanding academic decision-making from the academic years prior to 2023/24.
We have made these changes so that our assessment regulations are easier to read and understand. Credit values have been changed to be inclusive of new unit sizes. While UGAR is different in format and language, the rules that govern progression and award remain the same.
Please note: the previous version of UGAR (v23-24.1.1) is provided below for use by Boards of Examiners at supplementary assessment boards in September 2024. This version is not for use for assessments taken in the AY 2024/25.
Exemptions
Any agreed exemptions from the Undergraduate Assessment Regulations are described in the published Exemptions document on this page. Please refer to this document alongside the assessment regulations.
