Working with genetically modified organisms standard
Assessing the risk of working with genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
The University's Safety Standard for Working with GMOs sets out the specific arrangements for identifying, assessing and managing the general risks associated with working with GMO's. The standard also sets out roles and responsibilities of people responsible for managing or working with Genetically Modified Organisms.
The generic risk assessment can be used to identify potential hazards and the means for managing associated risks. Departments are responsible for amending the template as necessary to fit the context of the laboratories (and work done) under their control.
The Standard and Risk Assessment documents were reviewed and agreed by UHSC in June 2023. The next scheduled review is June 2026.
