Alumna Holly Anzani was presented with the University’s newly launched President’s Award in May. She received the Award from Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Ian White DL FREng as part of the University’s alumni reception at the Cornell Club New York.

The award recognises Holly’s support of the University over many years as a member of the US Foundation Board, which oversees the disbursal of donations from the University’s alumni and friends in the US.

Holly met her husband Mark Anzani (BSc Electrical & Electronic Engineering 1980) while studying Economics as a visiting student in the 1980s, and together they support scholarships at the University.

Gordon Cox, Director of Advancement, says:

A big congratulations to Holly on this well-deserved award. We are incredibly grateful for her significant contribution to our US Foundation. Generous gifts from our North American friends have had a huge impact over the decades to staff and students of the University, and this wouldn’t have been possible without the time and commitment volunteered by Holly to facilitate the work of the University of Bath Foundation

Transatlantic impact

Over $2 million has been raised through the Foundation, which is a 501c3 charitable organisation, since 2009. This has been used to support a range of activities across campus, including research, student experience and scholarships.

Flores-New Gold Scholar Abubakar Ali (BSc International Management 2024), whose scholarship is administered through the Foundation, says:

I really appreciate the financial support that was provided to me. This had helped me pay for my expenses – if I did not have the Gold Scholarship, I would not have been able to live comfortably. I was able to meet new people and had the opportunity to try new things that I was not able to do previously .

Celebrating our community

Launched in late 2022, the President’s Award is intended to honour members of our community who have made an exceptional and sustained contribution to the work of the University, the city of Bath or the region.
