Dr Colin Waring Research Development Manager
Colin supports academics in their research ambitions through expert funding advice, strategic planning and developing high-quality funding proposals.
Role
Colin is the Research Development Manager for physical sciences in Research and Innovation Services (RIS). His work includes identifying opportunities and developing high-quality research proposals relevant to the:
- Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
- Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)
- The Royal Society
As part of the Research Development team, Colin facilitates workshops and provides skills training for improving grant proposal outcomes.
Career
Before joining the University of Bath in 2022, Colin worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Exeter and at the University of East Anglia. He then held an Academic post at the University of Portsmouth before moving into research support at the University of Portsmouth and then Oxford Brookes University.
Education
Colin has a PhD from Heriot-Watt University and a BSc from the University of Aberdeen.
