This week we welcome some of our Professional Doctorate in Policy Research and Practice (DPRP) candidates back to the University of Bath for a week-long residential.

The DPRP is a pioneering doctorate which enhances professional capability and critical reflection on the theories, methods and practices of policymaking. Designed for experienced professionals working in a range of policy arenas – locally, nationally, and globally – the DPRP helps develop their policy analysis expertise without having to take a full career break.

Focusing on the theme of ‘Citizenship and Governance in a Digital World’, this week’s residential will teach DPRP candidates about; the digital revolution; digital democracy; data and methods; politics in the online information environment; digital governance; and digital policy and regulation.

The residential features lectures from Bath experts, including IPR Director, Professor Nick Pearce, and IPR Prize Fellow, Dr Iulia Cioroianu, as well as guest speaker, and Director of Data at the European Commission, Gail Kent.

Following the residential, candidates will; understand current digital policy issues; critically examine digital governance ideas, objectives and documents; consider how the digital revolution has affected strategic political communications and policy; recognise the ways in which the digital revolution affects the policy landscape; and develop solutions to address policy conflicts which may otherwise prevent optimum policy impact.

The University of Bath is offering two Excellence Awards for the September 2019 intake of our innovative part-time Doctorate in Policy Research and Practice. The award constitutes a fee waiver of £2,000 per year on the regular fee for the duration of successful applicants’ registration. Find out more and apply.
