The threatening rise of far-right and reactionary politics worldwide has prompted a growing and urgent academic interest to understand their conditions of possibility, operations, and fields of legitimacy.

Because of this, the Reactionary Politics Research Network aims to bring together researchers from different fields, disciplines, and theoretical approaches to offer an intersectional lens into this current site of political crisis at our Reactionary Politics Research Network Workshop.

We're organising a day-long workshop at the University of Bath, funded by the GW4 Building Communities Generator Fund, to spark collaborative and productive conversations among our participants and to develop our network to reach wider audiences.

The GW4 Generator Fund seeks to develop research communities across four universities in the South West (and beyond): University of Bath, University of Bristol, Cardiff University, and University of Exeter.

The workshop will involve informal conversations around the topic of far-right and reactionary politics. After brief introductory presentations (3-5 mins) from each participant, we will work together to discuss a series of urgent political questions and provocations about the nature of reactionary politics today. Our goal will be to foster new ideas, new connections, and to formulate a wider research agenda as a network to extend our reach.
