The Reactionary Politics Research Group (RPRG), launched in 2023, brings together colleagues from across the University of Bath and beyond whose research engages with reactionary movements in politics.

As we seek to develop our network, we would like to invite researchers interested in issues that involve reactionary movements and politics (and resistance to them) to present their research in our first Reactionary Politics workshop. This is due to take place on Friday 15th December 2023.

Our research interests span movements promoting sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, ableism, racism, and ecofascism; and opposition to them. Because of this, we are looking for research papers that discuss these topics.

For this first workshop, we will prioritise researchers (including Postgraduate Research (PGR) students) based in the South West of the UK, as we will only be able to accommodate a limited number of papers. However, we are also open to submissions from further afield.

The workshop will be free and catered, but we will not be able to cover travel expenses at this stage.

Submit your paper

If you are interested, please submit a 250-word abstract and biographical note to RPRG@bath.ac.uk by 31 July 2023.

If you would like to join our mailing list or the network without submitting an abstract, please email us too.

About the RPRG

The RPRG is interdisciplinary and open to all methods, but requires a critical approach to researching reactionary politics. Particular care is taken towards ethical engagement with such research. Postgraduate research candidates are welcome.
