A message from Network Rail:
We’re getting in touch to let you know about some essential maintenance work taking place on the railway between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare that will affect train journeys for a 6-day period from this Sunday.
If you travel by train through the area regularly, you will no doubt have seen posters on display or heard announcements about this work. We hope you find the below and attached resources useful and ask that you kindly pass on through your networks to any colleagues, friends and family who may be interested or affected.
What work is taking place?
From Sunday 17 – Friday 22 September, we will be replacing worn track on the line just south of Bristol, in the Long Ashton/Flax Bourton area, as well as further south between Yatton and Worle.
During the same period, we’re also modernising two level crossings – Puxton & Worle and Huish – replacing outdated components to improve performance and reliability.
How will this affect my travel plans?
Rail replacement buses will be in operation and no trains will be able to stop at the following stations:
- Bedminster
- Parson Street
- Nailsea & Backwell
- Yatton
- Worle
- Weston Milton
Trains between London Paddington and Weston-super-Mare/Taunton will terminate at Bristol Temple Meads instead.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Taunton or Severn Beach/Avonmouth and Weston-super-Mare will also terminate at Bristol Temple Meads.
Trains will still be running between Weston-super-Mare and Exeter St David’s as well as between London Paddington and the south west via Taunton.
CrossCountry trains will use a different route between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton – extending journey times by around 45 minutes.
