It can be hard to stay on top of staff benefits and news if you’re not desk based.

So we’re piloting a new WhatsApp channel just for Campus Services staff to bring you staff benefits, wellbeing initiatives, people news and the chance to have your say in surveys.

When we spoke to staff about communications last year, WhatsApp was suggested by several colleagues in Campus Services as a communications channel worth exploring.

As a result, we now plan to share one or two key news items each day that may be of interest.

About WhatsApp channels

  • Channels on WhatsApp are a one-way platform. Unlike regular WhatsApp groups, you won’t be able to comment or leave messages on the channel but you can react to posts with an emoji and take part in polls

  • Once you’ve signed up, you will be able to see the channel in the ‘updates’ section in your WhatsApp app

  • It’s up to you to choose when you access the information on the channel (unless you want to set up notifications, the default is that you will only see new posts when you actively visit the channel page)

  • Your phone number, name or profile will not be visible to anyone else following the channel
