The Brilliant Club aims to increase the number of state school pupils from under-represented backgrounds progressing to highly selective universities. The Scholars Programme allows pupils to gain experience of university style learning, and the opportunity to work alongside the PhD community who share in their academic expertise and offer support to pupils culminating in a university-style final assignment.

Our Widening Participation and Admissions Progression Teams have worked with the Brilliant Club to set up this initiative for 2020 and we believe it will help us to achieve our aim of having a diverse student population and to ensure that there are more opportunities to study at Bath for students from backgrounds that are under-represented at university.

This alternative offer will recognise the additional work undertaken by the Brilliant Club scholars alongside their core studies and the value this has in preparing these students to succeed at university. Students who achieve a 1st or a 2:1 in the Brilliant Club Scholars programme will receive an alternative offer which will be a reduction of one grade from our typical offers.

Dr Andrew Ross, Head of Widening Access and Participation said, "I'm really pleased we can be the first university to offer an alternative offer to students who have successfully completed the Scholars Programme. The students completing the programme demonstrate some highly-developed skills and their desire to work on extracurricular projects prepare them well for being at university. I hope many more of the Scholars Programme graduates will choose to join us at Bath. The Programme joins our suite of alternative offers for students who have completed additional project work such as other Widening Participation Programmes or an Extended Project Qualification."

Brilliant Club scholars with queries about admissions to Bath should contact the UG Admissions Progression Team.
