We are deeply saddened by the news from Buckingham Palace that The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral on the afternoon of Thursday 8 September. Our University community joins the rest of the nation in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and our thoughts are with the Royal family at this difficult time.

In line with the official guidance issued by the Cabinet Office for the public and businesses this morning and after very careful consideration the University of Bath has decided to proceed with our talks and tours for those that wish to attend, recognising the need to support those who have already made plans to come to Bath which cannot be changed, the importance that we allow those considering study at the University of Bath to visit given the enormous significance university education has to a person, and because of other significant disruptions that cancellation at such short notice would cause.

University staff and students will be present on campus to answer your questions but some aspects of the day have been cancelled as a mark of respect, but this should not affect any talks or tours you have booked.

Book of Condolence

The University has opened Books of Condolence which visitors are very welcome to sign should they wish to do so. These can be found in the University Chaplaincy. There will also be a space available in the Chaplaincy for quiet reflection.

We appreciate that you may prefer not to attend an Open Day event at this time, and you will be able to find other opportunities to visit the University on our website both in person or virtually. Our next Undergraduate Virtual Open Day will be held later this month on 21 September 2022 and you can register for this via our website.
