A University of Bath student has developed an innovative online mooring and berth booking system that promises to eliminate one of the biggest worries for boat users - finding a spare mooring in crowded harbours and marinas.
Moored Solutions has been developed by second year Physics student Jamie Crisp. Jamie, together with Joe Broughton his Chief Technical Officer, an undergraduate at the University of Bath, and the rest of his team, have designed the system that allows boat users to see what moorings and berths are available. They can then reserve and pay for them online, whilst enabling marina and harbour operators to collect fees and manage space.
Following initial conversations at the Student Enterprise stand at the Freshers’ Fair, Jamie went on to receive help and guidance from the Student Enterprise team that has enabled him to develop Moored Solutions to the point at which it is today.
Of the support he received from Student Enterprise, Jamie says:

As well as being introduced to Stephen Kelly; directed to the Santander Entrepreneurship Fund 2023, where he received a funding grant of £2,000; Jamie was also encouraged to take part in two rounds of the Student Entrepreneurship Programme’s Dragons’ Den. Not only did he receive the maximum awards (£500 and £5,000 respectively) to fund his business, but he was introduced to his mentor Nick Wood, one of the Dragons.
Jamie and his team are currently in talks with several marinas and harbours about implementing the system, which he expects to launch in 2024.
