The Bath Merit Award is worth £3,000 and is available for overseas fee-paying students permanently domiciled in selected countries who have an outstanding academic record. This award aims to reward students who can demonstrate a background of achievement and success.

The awards are available for full-time taught master's courses* in the Faculties of Engineering and Design, Humanities and Social Sciences and Science and can only be used as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.


Eligibility criteria

You will automatically be considered for the award and do not need to submit an additional application. Find out if you are eligible to apply for this award.


To be eligible for the award, you must:

  • hold an offer from the University of Bath for a full-time, campus-based postgraduate taught master's course starting in 2024*
  • be permanently domiciled in one of the countries listed below and be a graduate or studying your degree at a university in the same country. You must have studied the whole of your degree in the country:
    • Canada
    • India
    • Malaysia
    • Nepal
    • Saudi Arabia
    • Sri Lanka
    • United Arab Emirates
    • United States of America
    • Vietnam
  • have overseas fee status
  • have a final degree or current grade/GPA equivalent to a UK high 2:1 degree
  • have not previously studied at the University of Bath

No additional scholarship application is required. If you meet the eligibility and award criteria, the scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee discount.

Recipients of the Bath Merit Award can also apply for other University of Bath scholarships available for 2024/25 entry.
