Daniel Barker Curriculum and Academic Development Lead

Daniel leads on the development and delivery of support for learning design

Role

As the Curriculum and Academic Development Lead for Learning Design and Enhancement, Daniel manages and oversees the development and delivery of support and guidance for teaching staff to enhance and innovate their pedagogic practice, focusing on learning design that supports, includes and is accessible to students through their courses and assessment.

Career

Daniel has worked in higher education and academic development since 2013, across several institutions, including the University of Portsmouth, where he specialised in developing online and distance learning courses.

In 2018 Daniel joined the University of Reading, where he focused on academic development and enhancement, specialising in Technology Enhanced Learning, with a focus on online teaching, digital accessibility, assessment and curriculum design. Some landmark projects that he was involved in included launching Degree Apprenticeship courses, Virtual Learning Environment transition, Learning Capture implementation and Course Transformation.

From 2024, Daniel joined the University of Bath, to work on Course and Learning Design.
