Stewart Till CBEI know it’s a cliché but ‘university days are the happiest days of your life’ really is true for me.

I chose Bath instead of any of the bigger universities because of the atmosphere. The University was being built around us – as we were growing up so was the University. There was a real feeling of innocence. No one minded about the lack of resources and the fact that it was less fast-lane – in fact I think that allowed me to prosper as an individual.

The most important lessons I learnt were outside the class room. As Entertainments Officer (and then vice-president of the Students' Union) I learnt more at Bath about being entrepreneurial than anywhere else. There I was, aged 19 and straight from school, booking acts like Cat Stevens and Fleetwood Mac.

Sadly I’m not in touch with any of the friends I made at Bath – the reunions conflict with the Cannes Film Festival. I’d really like to do more for the University if I had more time.
