How to make the most of your personal file storage space

Every user account has a storage quota - that is a personal limit to the amount of space you can use on the file server. This is so that everyone can have enough disk space for their needs. You can see how much space you've used with the account manager.

It is a good idea to review your usage and compress or delete files as is appropriate on a regular basis.  Files that need long term storage for research and University business continuity should not be stored in your personal space but on other network file spaces as advised by your local IT support.

Initial space allocations:

undergraduates 1GB
research postgraduates 1GB
taught postgraduates 1GB
staff 1GB

Additional file storage space may be requested using the quota request form. For details on how to access see how to map drives.
