Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the unit, you will be able to:
* Select and use appropriate mathematical techniques to solve engineering problems. (K1)
* Develop computational programming to solve simple engineering problems. (K1)
* Construct simple 2D and 3D representations of engineering systems and elements. (PT1)


Synopsis: Acquire general mathematical foundations and computational methods and tools required as a basis for solving engineering problems across a range of civil engineering subject areas.

Content: Elementary functions;
Differentiation and its applications;
Integration and its applications;
Determinants and matrices;
Elementary vector analysis;
AutoCAD;
Excel for engineering problem solving;
Computer programming for engineering problem solving.
