Requisites:
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:
* Combine and apply the transport properties and interactions of complex fluids, solids and multiphase systems to evaluate complex and integrated mechanisms to environmental engineering problems (A2.2b, A2.2e) [CLO: I1]
* Apply advanced principles to new and as-yet unsolved complex and uncertain separation and reaction problems in environmental engineering (A2.4a, A2.2c, A6a, A6b) [CLO: P3]

Aims: This unit will aim to:
* Convey an overview and a deeper understanding of the scientific foundations of environmental processes and environmental engineering.
* Provide comprehensive knowledge about behaviour of contaminants and the processes for their avoidance and removal.

Skills:
* Ability to conceptualise complex environmental processes (T,F,A)
* Ability to specify and critically evaluate environmental engineering processes (T,F,A)
* Ability to understand and describe global biogeochemical processes and to differentiate human and natural influence (T,F,A)
* Ability to develop solutions for avoiding and eliminating environmental problems (T,F,A)
* Ability to classify pollutants, know their impact and fate in the environment (T,F,A)

Content:
* Advanced core knowledge in environmental science and environmental engineering
* Relevant advanced chemical engineering concepts, particularly advanced process engineering and process optimisation as applied to environmental engineering scenarios.
