| Learning Outcomes: |
Apply key chemistry theories and concepts to solve chemical problems as part of a group;
Apply coding skills to solve chemical problems related to core chemistry theories and concepts;
Use appropriate mathematical techniques in a chemistry context to solve chemical problems;
Use software for basic data manipulation and use reference sources for finding chemical information.

| Synopsis: | You will learn and develop skills that you will draw upon throughout your degree programme. Moreover, this will cover basic mathematical manipulations and computer (coding) skills that will also be required. Finally, you will work on a group mini-project focusing on a current area of chemistry. This will be scaffolded with appropriate skills sessions to support your learning.

| Content: | This unit is composed of several parts:
1) Tutorials to support the core chemistry units, tutorials will cement the basic chemistry knowledge.
2) Maths - the basic concepts required to study for a degree in chemistry (e.g. simple calculus, algebra, graphs).
3) Coding - you will be introduced to basic coding skills and how these are used by chemists.
4) Use and apply specialist chemistry software to find data and represent chemical structures.
