Explain how biological processes and bio-molecules can be targeted by drugs. |
| Synopsis: | In this unit you will explore biological chemistry that is central to the drug discovery process. You will be exposed to the fundamentals of human physiology and the targeting of organ systems by drugs. The chemistry underlying the structure and function of membranes, proteins (enzymes, receptors), carbohydrates, and nucleic acids will be discussed. Key principles will be placed in context using case studies of known drugs. |
