The presence of the dead in society

Principal Investigator: Tony Walter

Tony Walter is writing a book, to be published by Routledge in 2020, exploring the factors that influence the presence of the dead in society. He argues that the dead are as present in modern as in traditional societies, but in different ways - the dead are accessed through new communication media and they legitimate new social groups.
