Gender, childhood and youth
This theme explores issues of gender, age and generation in relation to international development. In many developing countries the population under 25 is immense, meaning there is a clear need to consider the relationship between development initiatives and the aspirations of young people who are experiencing social and economic marginalisation. Within this theme research is also concerned with examining how norms around age/ generation affect the impact of development work at all stages of the life course, including old age
