Using CMIS (Curriculum Management Information System)
CMIS is the definitive source of current and future information on units and programmes. Use CMIS to propose and make changes to units and programmes.
What you can do on CMIS
CMIS was developed in-house and the first version is being used during the 2017/18 academic year. If needed, we will launch an updated version in the 2018/19 academic year.
You can only see data in CMIS if you are a member of staff with the appropriate permissions and access.
If you have access, you can use CMIS to:
- find and view unit or programme information
- submit proposals for committee consideration
- track submitted proposals and view committee decisions
User guidance and training
You can access the CMIS User Guide, introductory videos, and answers to Frequently Asked Questions at the CMIS User Forum in Moodle.
Phillippa Lowton is the project manager for CMIS. You can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask questions that can't be answered by the user guidance, or to arrange training.
Programme and unit catalogue in SAMIS
You should no longer hold local repositories of programme or unit information.
SAMIS makes current and past information on units and programmes publicly available through the unit and programme catalogue. In future, you should source programme and unit information from either CMIS or SAMIS.
Guidance on processes
To propose a new programme of study, or make changes to units and programmes, you need to follow the processes in the Quality Assurance Code of Practice statements, in particular:
CMIS Feedback Survey
Please help us to improve CMIS by completing a brief CMIS Feedback Survey about your experience of using CMIS. It’s important for us to collect as much feedback as possible to understand whether CMIS is meeting your needs, any issues you’ve encountered, and to inform future development.
