Using the electric cycle loan scheme

If you are a member of staff or a postgraduate student at the University of Bath, you can hire an electric bicycle to get to and from campus.

How the electric cycle scheme works

If you are a member of staff or a postgraduate student, you can hire an electric bicycle (e-bike) from Take Charge Bikes for free for up to two weeks.

The scheme, run in conjunction with Bath and North East Somerset Council, aims to encourage drivers to consider alternative transport to campus.

You will get a safety helmet, high-visibility jacket and Sold Secure locking device which you must use to lock up the bike.

You must pay a £50 refundable deposit in case any damage is caused. If there is no damage, the money will be fully refunded.

You will be given a full briefing about the controls. A short demonstration is available for those who have not ridden electric bicycles before.

Staff can also purchase electric cycles through the University's tax-free cycle to work scheme.
