“Having worked at the largest and one of the most influential European higher education research centres (CHEPS, University of Twente) for almost fourteen years, I’m proud and honoured to be able to direct the International Centre for Higher Education Management (ICHEM). Its location in one of the UK’s leading business schools, and its links with the departments of Education and Social and Policy Science at the University of Bath offer a challenging research environment. I initially trained as a secondary school teacher and thereafter read Educational Sciences at the University of Gröningen in the Netherlands. I joined CHEPS in 1991 as a PhD student. After receiving my PhD, I combined research and management tasks within the Centre. I have been involved in numerous basic and commissioned research projects as well as in consultancies.
In addition to the research challenge, the involvement in the various teaching activities – including the DBA Higher Education Management – will allow me to share my knowledge of the field and of course the students’ experiences and research work will fuel my understanding of higher education.”
