University of Bath Library and Inspire
The University of Bath library welcomes visitors from other libraries under the Inspire collaboration scheme.
Inspire is a collaboration programme for libraries in Higher Education, Public and Governmental sectors as well as some private library collections.
The Findit! web site provides information on participating libraries and their collections.
At the University of Bath you can visit the main campus library, you may have to sign in at the University Reception as a visitor so please bring some form of photographic identification.
The general advice and information offered to Library Visitors also relates to users referred to the University of Bath under the Inspire scheme.
While at the University of Bath Library you will be able to:
- use the on-line catalogue terminals in the library to find what materials we have in stock and where they can be found on the subject floors;
- access a selection of online resources (e-journals and databases) via catalogue terminals where publisher licences permit;
- use the libraries' printed collections for reference. (Borrowing library stock is not possible under the Inspire scheme. Instead you would need to apply for external membership.) Some library materials are in closed collections. You can ask for those items to be brought out of store for you to read. (Library staff will explain the procedure; there may be a day or so delay.);
- use the libraries' self-service photocopiers, subject to Copyright Law, by purchasing a copy card from a vending machine;
- use your own laptop computer in the librariy. However you will not be able to automatically connect to the Internet or the University's computer network. (For wireless access you may be able to take advantage of BTOpenzone wireless hotspots)
You can contact the Library at the University of Bath for further advice via the Ask a Librarian query handling service or contacting the Library Issue Desk on +44 (0)1225 385000, a voicemail service is available.
You may also find the information in the About the Library section of our website as well as the Library News listings useful in relation to library service hours, opening times and any service issues affecting the Library.
