Public Engagement

Since 2013, the Public Engagement Unit has been holding funding rounds that are open to any member of staff or postgraduate research students (of any discipline or career stage), looking to engage the public with research.

These internal funding opportunities look to facilitate the embedding of public engagement with research across the University. So far, the Public Engagement Unit has invested over £50,000 in engaged research projects. As each project comes to a completion, their experience and learning is captured through a variety of case studies and blogs.

A range of external funding opportunities to support public engagement activities are available from Research Councils and other funding bodies. And a reminder that the Pathways to Impact section of the Research Councils' Je-S application form provides an opportunity to explain the activities that will help you realise the potential impacts of your proposed research; the University's Research Development & Support Office have developed a Planning for Impact toolkit which should support your thinking.

You should ensure that you request resources for your planned activities as part of your Je-S application.
