Andrew Green

Profile
Andrew Green is a Manufacturing Engineer in Mechanical Engineering. He provides technical assistance in the area of CNC machining and rapid prototyping. He heads up the departments Shell Eco-Marathon vehicle project which has achieved over 6000 miles per gallon.
Andrew Green joined the Department in 1990 and has been connected with the Manufacturing Laboratory since that time, working with robots and computer numerically controlled machines. He has developed modelling and CNC programming skills using various packages including Smartcam, Sold Edge and Unigraphics. These have been used to machined a variety of components on the 3,4 and 5 axis Milling machines and mill turn lathe currently located in the Manufacturing Laboratory.
Andrew is also involved in teaching practical skills and has helped to develop a range of student activities including manual machining, hand tool skills, cnc programming, engine strip down and rebuild etc.
Research
Andrew has been involved with building vehicles for the Shell Eco-Marathon since 1995. This work has included student participation in the form of final year projects. Together with the student assistance the University team has been the leading team in the UK since 2000 and has achieved 6603 miles per gallon at the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford near Aberdeen, Scotland.
