Dr Mehmet Necip Sahinkaya

Profile
Dr. Sahinkaya received his doctorate in 1979 from the University of Sussex. Following periods as an academic at the universities of Sussex, Strathclyde and Bath, he had a career break in late 1988 and worked in industry as a general manager of a shipping company in Turkey.
He rejoined the research team at the University of Bath in May 2000, and he is now Reader in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Dr Sahinkaya published over 100 journal and conference papers and was awarded the IMechE William Sweet Smith Prize in 1990, the Thomas Bernard Hall prize in 2006, and PE Publishing Prize of the Journal of Power and Energy (IMechE) in 2009.
He acted as the Chairman of the Organisation Committee for the UKACC Control 2004 conference, and has been serving on an ISO committee on Vibration of Rotating Machinery Equipped with Active Magnetic Bearings since 2005.
