Teaching methods

We deliver courses through a variety of methods including:

  • Formal lectures
  • Tutorial classes
  • Practical design-and-build activities.

Final year activities include a group business and design project, which involves students working as a team to design an engineering product. The project covers technical and business aspects of engineering. Typical projects include:

The individual engineering research project in the final year is an opportunity to work one-to-one with a member of academic staff and use the faculty’s research facilities.

HIT students who have successfully completed the BEng (Hons) award will also be considered for admittance to taught Masters programmes offered by our faculty.
