Neuroscience Network
Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system: the brain, the spinal cord and all the nerve cells in the body. By understanding how nerve cells work at the level of genes, molecules, networks and behaviour we can learn more about how the nervous system functions. Importantly we can also gain insight into many diseases of the nervous system which include some of the more devastating and debilitating medical illnesses.
At the University of Bath we have recently established a virtual network of researchers studying many different aspects of neuroscience. This is a cross-campus interdisciplinary network bringing together researchers from psychology, biology and biochemistry, pharmacy and pharmacology, physics and computer sciences, as well as research teams in local hospitals. At the University of Bath there is particular research strength in psychopharmacology, neurodegenerative diseases and pain.
The aims of the University of Bath Neuroscience Network are
- to promote inter-disciplinary communication between neuroscientists
- to develop new research relationships within the University across traditional departmental boundaries
- to respond to cross-disciplinary funding calls for neuroscience research
