Quality management

Distance learning

Distance learning (or flexible and distributed learning as it is sometimes known) gives students, who are not able to attend a programme on campus, the opportunity to take up a programme of study.  We deliver a number of our programmes remotely and aim to provide the same quality of provision as on campus.

For details of the delivery and support mechanisms needed to maintain the quality of distance learning programmes see QA41.  This statement should be read alongside QA3 if you are developing a programme which involves distance learning.  QA41 also covers arrangements for distance learning students who are using their workplace to provide some of the learning opportunities of the programme (work-based learners).

Many distance learning Programmes are delivered through the University's Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle, and departments need to ensure that they have contingency arrangements in place if there is an ongoing problem with online delivery.
