Proof of student status letters

If you need to obtain a letter that proves that you are a student at the University, you will need to be fully registered.

You can obtain a proof of student status letter for different purposes such as opening a bank account or facilitating visa arrangements to invite family or friends to visit you.

How to request a proof of student status letter:

You can request a proof of student status letter via the registration web page once you have registered, by pressing the button "Proof of student status letter request". This will display a webform where you can request the type of letter. As an alternative you can also print your own student status certificate from the registration web page. If you request a proof of student status letter you should collect the letter in person from the Student Services Centre in 4 West (please allow 4 working days for your letter to be produced). You will be contacted to tell you when your letter is ready for collection. Students on placement or study away from the University, including part-time students, will have their letters automatically posted to their semester-time address.

Temporary arrangements for obtaining a proof of student status letter IF registration online is unavailable:

Over the summer vacation the Registration web page may be unavailable for a few weeks whilst records are being prepared for the following academic year. When this occurs you can request a proof of student letter by emailing towhom@bath.ac.uk stating what you want the letter for. If you are requesting an invitation letter, please state the names of the people to be invited; where they are coming from; the date of arrival and the period of stay in the UK. Please make sure that you give full details of the purpose of the letter you are requesting.

Please visit the Student Services Centre in 4 West if you have any questions.
