The £1M award from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) supports projects that build on previous EPSRC research or sit within the EPSRC remit. This fund, known as Impact Acceleration Account (IAA), has been made available to help bridge the gap between the lab and the marketplace.

This is part of UK Research and Innovation's investment of £118 million to accelerate UK bright ideas into global opportunities, awarded to a total of 64 universities and research organisations.

Professor Sarah Hainsworth OBE FREng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Bath, says:

I was thrilled to hear about this award. These particular types of awards are key to driving knowledge exchange and innovation as they enable us to develop opportunities for engagement with external stakeholders and leverage extra funding to accelerate the translation of our research outputs into real world impact.

The University ran an open call to internally allocate funds to support projects aligned with the University’s priority areas: Sustainability, Health and wellbeing, and Digital and big data.

Details of the breadth of activity currently being supported by EPSRC through this scheme can be found on their website.

Further calls from our new EPSRC IAA will be announced in due course. All information will be updated on our website.
