We are pleased to announce a new layer of security will soon be added to SAMIS using Multi-factor Authentication. The sign-in process will be similar to that for your University Microsoft 365 account.
We constantly evolve our security to meet and defeat the latest threats from cybercriminals. We thank you for your engagement and participation in applying these extra security measures, to protect your University accounts and systems.
Why is MFA being applied to SAMIS
SAMIS stores a large amount of your personal information and we are taking the necessary steps to keep it safe.
An account or service with only one authentication method, such as a password, is vulnerable to cybercriminals seeking to steal your credentials and access your information. MFA increases security by requiring more than a username and password to authenticate.
When will MFA be enabled on SAMIS
Enter date here.
What differences will I notice
The main difference will be your sign-in experience. SAMIS now uses the same Microsoft Sign-In page that you see to sign in to other Microsoft 365 services, such as Outlook.
Note: the sign-in experience for the SAMIS client is not changing.
What should I do to prepare
Next time you sign in, you may have to provide a second authentication method. You will only need to re-authenticate for future sign-ins if we consider it risky, for instance, if you are on a different device or in another country.
