Available exclusively to our students, Bath Insights provides the opportunity to gain work experience across various University departments on campus. Bath Insights offers first- and second-year students the opportunity to work on a real project, developing a range of sought-after skills and competencies, while being supported by the host department and colleagues from across the University. Through these internships, host departments are able to harness student creativity, ingenuity and energy, and you are able to develop workplace skills, and have the chance to contribute blue skies thinking and practical solutions to genuine projects.

About the programme

Returning in summer 2026, these internship opportunities are open to most University of Bath undergraduate students in years one and two. (If you’re studying a distance learning course or visiting the University on an exchange, you’re not eligible to apply. You're also not able to apply if you've already completed a Bath Insights internship.) We welcome applications from all eligible students, but are particularly interested in receiving applications from students in receipt of a Bath Bursary.

Each internship lasts for 8 weeks. They are all full-time roles (36.5 hours per week), and are paid at Grade 2, which meets (or exceeds) the real living wage. Interns also receive free on-campus accommodation.

Available internships

We are really excited to confirm the internship opportunities that are available this year. From the Careers Centre to the Doctoral College, there is a wide range of internships available. Applications will open on 6 January 2026, but right now you can read an overview of each project.

Projects are sorted by theme, and although you won’t be able to apply to a specific project, you can indicate on your application if you have a preferred theme. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre and if you’re successful you will be matched to the most appropriate opportunity for you.
