Every year, the Alumni Fund – a £50,000 funding pot provided by generous donations from alumni and friends of the University – helps staff and students to pursue a variety of projects.

In previous years, Alumni Fund grants have supported a range of extracurricular activities, including a special reading area in the library, a community garden and research projects.

All grant applications must demonstrate their benefit to the University, local, national or international community. The funding awarded can be used to fund many areas of a project, ranging from new equipment to research support.

2025/6 applications

The closing date for this academic year’s grants is Friday 23 January 2026 at 11.59pm (GMT). Successful applicants will be informed by the end of April 2026. Current staff and students can find full details of the application criteria and how to apply.

Prospective applicants will be required to attend an information session before making an application. Sessions can be booked via this Calendly link.

Previous Alumni Fund grant projects

Library Nook

Support from the Alumni Fund played a vital role in bringing our new Library Nook to life: a student-designed space and curated book collection that encourages reading for pleasure and supports wellbeing.

Thanks to the fund (and Student Experience support), we were able to purchase soft, flexible furnishings that create a warm, lounge-style atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and adaptable enough to host wellbeing-focused events.

Since its launch, the Nook has been incredibly well-received. It’s great to see alumni support making such a meaningful and lasting difference to the student experience at Bath.

Community Garden

We are so grateful for the funding we received for the Community Garden, without it, our project wouldn't have been possible.

The generosity of the fund enabled us to convert an unused area of land into a special space which we hope will benefit both students and staff.

We are lucky that other members of the University community have also been very kind, donating time and resources to help us complete the garden.
