The Data Science Master’s course run at the University of Bath is among the best in the world, according to the highly respected business magazine Forbes. Other prestigious institutions included in the publication's list of top-10 are MIT and Stanford University in the USA, Tsinghua University in China and the University of Hong Kong.

The article describes Bath as a UK university that is “fast developing a reputation as a centre of data science excellence”.

Bernard Marr, contributor to Forbes magazine, added: “Studying data science and AI at this level will mark you out to employers as someone whose technical expertise is likely to exceed that of candidates who only have a computer science bachelor's degree. It might also be a step towards a Ph.D.”

Professor Nick Brook, Dean of the University’s Faculty of Science, said: “This is a strong endorsement of what Bath brings to the global table in this cutting edge area. The course not only focuses on the core competencies and fundamentals, but gives the opportunity to take those skill out into an industrial placement to embed those skill in a real life environment. This is what creates such a unique and exciting educational opportunity and is core to the Bath learning experience.”

Professor Mike Fraser, head of the Department of Computer Science, added: "At Bath, we have an excellent record of developing novel AI technologies and techniques, but also of understanding the impact on human trust and ethics when applying AI innovations to solve problems. As we help a new generation of students to develop these skills, we look forward to the exciting journey that their work will take us on within computing and across wider society."
