The University of Bath has remained in the top 10 universities in the UK and best in the South West, according to the latest Guardian University Guide 2025 released this weekend.
The latest news means Bath remains in the top 10 for all four of the main rankings of UK universities - the Guardian ranking, The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide, the Complete University Guide and the Daily Mail University Guide.
For individual subjects, Bath is ranked number one in the UK for Sports Science, and top five in five other subjects: Chemical Engineering (2nd); Mechanical Engineering (2nd); Business & Management (3rd); Psychology (4th) and Aerospace Engineering (4th).

Professor Phil Taylor, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath, said: “I am delighted that the University of Bath is ranked 7th best in the UK in the Guardian University Guide.
“Students who come to Bath can expect high quality teaching, reflected in our Triple Gold Award in the Teaching Excellence Framework. Our graduates enjoy some of the best job prospects in the country, our sporting facilities are world-class and we work hard to give our students the best support and experience possible.
“I’d like to thank all our dedicated staff who continue to make the University one of the best in the country.”
The Guardian University Guide ranks universities across eight different scores to form an overall score out of 100. These include what students say about their teaching as well as feedback in the annual National Student Survey (NSS).
The Guide also considers the level of staff engagement with students through the student-to-staff ratio, and how much universities spend on teaching each student.
Also part of the rankings are how students’ A-level grades compare with their academic performance (the ‘value-added’ score), plus how likely they are to continue with their course and get graduate jobs upon leaving.
