The ranking matches the University’s position in last year’s table and means that Bath remains a Top 10 University in the three main rankings tables – in addition to the latest Guardian University Guide and the Complete University Guide.
As well as the overall ranking, 17 subjects are in the top ten by subject ranking, including Architecture and Criminology which are ranked as the best in the country. These are:

- Business, Management and Marketing (7th)
- Chemical Engineering (8th)
- Civil Engineering (=3rd)
- Criminology (1st)
- Economics (9th)
- Education (8th)
- Mechanical Engineering (3rd)
- Pharmacology and Pharmacy (6th)
- Politics (9th)
- Psychology (2nd)
- Social Policy (4th)
- Social work (9th)
- Sociology (2nd)
- Sports Science (2nd)
President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian White, said: “I am delighted to see the University retain a top 10 spot overall, and rank highly for so many of our courses, including Architecture and Criminology which each took number one nationally.
“This is of course a reflection of all the hard work and dedication of everyone across our University who I am so grateful to for all their efforts, especially during the challenging times we have all faced.”
The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide uses a range of criteria to compile the rankings, including student satisfaction, research quality, student to staff ratio and graduate prospects.
