To round of our month of activity celebrating Black History Month 2024, the closing event will be held on Thursday 31 October 2024 at 1pm in 3.16, Chancellors' Building. It will feature three leading members of our community addressing inclusion from Bath to a sector wide level.
Professor Jane White will open the event speaking on this year’s theme of Black History Month: ‘Reclaiming narratives’, and what that means here at the University of Bath. Jane will go on to speak on plans for the future for minoritised groups, including our Black community.
Next we welcome Professor Phil Taylor, Vice-Chancellor and President, who will speak about the forthcoming House of Parliament launch of ‘Barriers to Black Academia Vol. 1 and 2’. To close the event Dr Teslim Bukoye will provide a summary of our Black History Month activity, including feedback from our ‘Five Day Challenge’ participants. Dr Bukoye will also lay down the path ahead regarding to our Race Equality Charter submission and progress at Bath.
