Please join family, friends and colleagues for a celebration of Brian’s life at 2pm on Monday 9 December at Bath Abbey.

Brian joined the University as Head of Security Services in 2005 after three years as Regional Security Manager at Sainsbury’s. This was preceded by 30 years with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary, where he completed his service as a Chief Inspector.

He was a member of AUCSO (The Association of University Chief Security Officers). Brian was appointed Treasurer in 2015 and, in 2017, he received the accolade of AUCSO Fellow for his outstanding contribution.

As well as his full-time role, Brian had his own security training and consultancy business, managing security and control rooms at major events including Glastonbury Festival, Leeds and Reading Festivals, Badminton Horse Trials, WOMAD and Jersey Live.

Brian was also a Justice of the Peace, serving on the Bristol Bench where he acted as both a Chair of the Bench and Magistrates’ Appraiser.

In his spare time Brian enjoyed an adventurous life; climbing Kilimanjaro; climbing to the Everest base camp; trekking across the high Andes in the spring of 2018; and exploring Iceland in January of this year.

The service will be an opportunity to reflect on Brian’s life, his contributions to the University and the esteem in which he was held by his many friends and colleagues.
