Professor Cassie Wilson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience), welcomed the Vice-Chancellor, Chair of Council, and guests to a celebration event on Thursday 7 November 2024 in the Claverton Rooms.
The event was an opportunity for current and former students and staff to come together to celebrate our community's achievement in becoming one of 15 universities in the country to be recognised with a University Mental Health Charter Award.
The event included short speeches by Professor Wilson, Benjamin Orford Thompson (SU Community Officer) and Professor Phil Taylor (Vice-Chancellor and President).
Former colleagues and students involved with the rigorous application and assessment process, which started over two years ago, were also invited. Professor Wilson thanked the wide range of people involved for their contributions and highlighted that while achieving the award is a significant and positive achievement for the university, it is also not the end of this work. The Mental Health Charter Framework is a continuous improvement tool for universities and Bath is progressing this work through Be Well at Bath, co-led by Professor Wilson and Professor Jane White (Vice-President (Community & Inclusion)).
Be Well at Bath is our whole University approach to mental health and wellbeing, providing a strategic framework to embed wellbeing considerations across all our activities and functions. Colleagues and students can find out more about Be Well at Bath, its current priorities and institutional leads on the Be Well web pages and in the Be Well e-booklet. Please get in touch if you would like to know more and be involved.
