The Committee was very impressed with the excellent academic results that Cicely has achieved throughout her degree programme including optional Biology modules and an exceptional essay in the Neuroscience of Blindness unit which is considered suitable for publication.

Cicely has displayed exceptional academic strength and breadth of campus and community involvement. Cicely’s contribution to the academic reputation of the University by undertaking a very successful placement with Mental Health Foundation was commended, along with her role representing the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as One Young World Ambassador in 2019.

Most notably, Cicely’s contributions to life at the University in the area of addressing gender equality and sexual violence on campus and beyond are an inspiration. Cicely returned to her former school to raise awareness to other young women around issues of consent and the #neverok campaign. She has since been campaigning for greater support for victims on campus, working with academic and professional services staff in the Equality and Diversity Committee and the Students’ Union.
