The Committee was impressed with the outstanding academic results Jack had achieved throughout his degree programme, as the top student within his cohort, with 1st class marks in every unit. His contribution to the academic reputation of the University was also acknowledged, particularly his placement at STFC ISIS facility which led to a poster prize at the Physics placement competition, as well as his input to a research group studying phase transitions in the cores of neutron stars, representing the University at an industry conference and contributing to planned publications.
Jack’s kindness and professionalism whilst working as Outreach Ambassador in the Student Recruitment & Admissions Department has had recognisable impact on recruiting prospective students from marginalised backgrounds, as well as new student ambassadors through the valuable training he has offered.
Jack has displayed both exceptional academic strength and a breadth of campus and community involvement that is a great credit to himself and the University.
