Vice-Chancellor Professor Phil Taylor and Chief Operating Officer Dr Ghazwa Alwani-Starr were joined by our selected contractor GRAHAM and members of the University's multi-disciplinary project team, together with partners involved in the design, planning and delivery of the development, for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction.
When completed, the development will provide 926 new student bedspaces and associated amenities, enabling more first-year undergraduate students to live on the University's main campus with easy access to teaching, support services and the wider student community.
The project represents a major investment in the University's campus and student experience, with completion expected in 2028.
Designed to Passivhaus standards, the development will incorporate high levels of energy efficiency and aligns with the University's commitment to sustainability.
Dr Ghazwa Alwani-Starr, Chief Operating Officer at the University of Bath, said:
