Council agreed to recruit an independent, external expert to carry out the next scheduled Effectiveness Review of Council. This will be a rigorous review of the University’s compliance with governance good practice in higher education and other sectors. The review will also consider fully the operation of the Remuneration Committee.

The meeting also decided, at the suggestion of the Vice-Chancellor, that she should no longer be a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Council was also informed that standing orders for Court – essentially, its operating guidelines - are being prepared to help ensure that its future meetings are as effective as possible.
